Connectivity
A while ago I bought iBurst for all of my employees, believing it was the answer to their need to be home at a reasonable time and work from Vida if they wish. My iBurst works fine from home, not so the other people. Amandla tells me she has to hold the modem in the air to get signal in Parkhurst and Jack was pissed off because he can’t work from the airport. So today, I got MTN 3G modems etc for some people and passed the iBurst along to other new guys that can use it.
I am currently online with 3G modem. 3G is better. It is faster, cheaper (scary huh?) and much better range. I loved my iBurst. It has let me work from the hair salon, school sportsdays etc… But this is a lot more slick.
Plus, no dial up bullshit… I didn’t get a 3G card which was a mistake. It’s a usb modem. Looks very cool, like a little black pod, but a bit clumsy cos it needs a cable. Anyway, I will live with it, or trade it in. Dunno yet.
Best of all, you just plug it in and it installs everything. No hassles, no codes, no server rubbish. It just does it all.
Am sure Vodacom offering is the same. I just have issues with using them because Telskum is such a big shareholder. I won’t give that beast money. We all have mobile phones at home and work (the work ones the company pays for) and I am happy for the kids to be on Virgin and I keep MTN.
Anyway, enough of this.
If you don’t have a 3G modem – really it’s worthwhile.
